My research investigates the developmental origins of psychiatric illness. I am especially interested in the perinatal mechanisms by which adversity can be transmitted from one generation to the next. My work leverages fetal and infant MRI, diagnostic and neurobehavioral assessments, naturalistic observations, and markers of parent-child endocrinology to provide insight across biological systems. It is my hope this line of research will inform intervention targets and timing that leverage the unparalleled plasticity of the young brain.
